IMPORTANT NOTES FOR INSPECTIONS:
All items to be inspected
must be in place and functional
at the time of inspection.
Inspections may be requested at any time but at least 10 days advance notice is
REQUIRED

Inspections from the Observer Program and AK Region Office must be scheduled
at least
one hour apart.
The Observer Program Inspection Team conducts inspections
ONLY
on weekdays.

At-sea scale repair company is required to be on site at the time of the inspection.

*NOTE: Prior to the at scale inspection make sure:
The scale is installed in a rigid and level manner
The display and printer are connected and operational
Belts leading to the scale are connected and operational (not applicable to platform and hanging scales)
Test weights and test weight certification documents are available for inspection (platform scales only)
A crew member will be available to help the inspector transport test materials and conduct the testing

Trawl Catcher/Processors and motherships:
Attach diagrams that are clearly labeled and drawn to scale showing:
All locations where sorting occur;
Location(s) where all catch will be weighed;
Location where observers will sample unsorted catch;
Location of the observer sampling station, including the observer sampling scale and table;
Location of each camera and its coverage area;
Location of any additional video equipment, including monitors and hard drives;
Location of the motion-compensated flow scale.
AFA vessels with Salmon bycatch video system, the diagrams must also show the location of salmon storage container.
Vessels participating in halibut deck sorting must also attach:
A diagram that is clearly labeled and drawn to scale showing all locations where sorting occurs on deck, location of the deck sampling station including the observer table, routes to access and exit the sampling station, emergency muster location and safety hazards that could be encountered on deck.

A complete Deck Safety Plan
All Other Vessels:
Attach a diagram that is clearly labeled and drawn to scale showing:
All locations where sorting occurs;
All locations where catch comes on board the vessel;
Location where observers will sample unsorted catch;
Location of the observer sampling station, including the observer sampling scale and table;
Location of each camera and its coverage area;
Location of any additional video equipment, including monitors and hard drives;
Location of motion-compensated flow scale.
